U.S. Silica Donates Sand for City Playground Sandboxes
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick Parks Department would like to acknowledge U.S. Silica for the recent donation of play sand to replenish the sandboxes in the City’s Parks system. U.S. Silica, a nationwide business that produces silica sand for glass manufacturing, relocated to Frederick in December 2010 and prides itself in their involvement in their home communities. The donation of sand for City park’s sandboxes reinforces their commitment to enhance and contribute to the communities in which they reside.
Mayor Randy McClement said, “It is the involvement of the community and local businesses that helps maintain and upgrade many of our City parks and taking that ownership is greatly appreciated. I see the pride residents and businesses have in our community every day and that is one of the many things that make Frederick so special.”
“We are very fortunate to have such great community partners here in Frederick,” stated Roelkey Myers, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation for The City of Frederick, “and it is groups like U.S. Silica that make Frederick such a special place to live, work & play!” Myers oversees 70 City parks.
The national headquarters for U.S. Silica is located at 8490 Progress Drive in Frederick, Maryland.
