Frederick City Police responded to a vehicle accident with injuries. A Toyota traveling N/B on Hillcrest Drive crossed the median and struck a SUV traveling S/B. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene. He was later located and charged
On 10-06-2013 at 10:57pm Frederick Police responded to the 100 block of Hillcrest Drive for a vehicle accident with injuries. A blue in color Toyota traveling Northbound on Hillcrest Drive crossed the median and struck a silver SUV traveling South bound. The SUV was then pushed into a parked Dodge Ram 1500.
Units arrived on the scene and observed two vehicles in the middle of the road with major damage. Witnesses stated that the driver of the striking vehicle, with two passengers, exited his car, and fled on foot. The front seat passenger also fled on foot. The third passenger in the back seat was transported to Frederick Memorial hospital for hip and chest pain.
The victim driving the SUV was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Witnesses at the scene stated the driver of the striking vehicle was described as a male Hispanic in his 30’s, with a dark shirt. He fled North on Hillcrest Drive towards route 40. Patrol units responded to the area and located a subject matching the description. He was positively identified by witnesses at the scene.
The driver of the blue Toyota was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving under influence of alcohol per se, driving while impaired by alcohol, negligent driving, failure to remain at the scene of accident, failure to render aid at accident with injuries, and failure to report accident to police.
