The Frederick Police Department responded to a suspicious situation at the Department of Social Services, 100 East All Saints Street at approximately 10:52 am. The incident began earlier in the morning in the county when CPS received a call about a father who had been missing a few days and had returned home. There was a domestic incident involving him acting irrational and making threats. Child Protective Services responded to conduct a child welfare check to the residence. During their investigation it was determined the male subject made threats about placing an improvised explosive device at the Department of Social Services.
The Frederick Police responded and established a perimeter closing South East St, between South St and East Patrick St; Carroll St between South Street and East Patrick St; and East All Saints St between South Market St and South East St. The Department of Fire Rescue and ATF responded to provide support to the incident. The building was evacuated under the direction of the Department of Social Services.
A search of the building was completed at approximately 2:40 pm. No suspicious items or devices were located. The Department of Social Services personnel returned to the building. The male subject was contacted by the Frederick Police Department interviewed and taken to the hospital for an emergency evaluation. No charges are pending at this time for this incident.
