Frederick Police, with assistance from underage volunteers, conducted checks of 40 business establishments within the City of Frederick Tuesday evening for compliance with state laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors.

Frederick, Maryland – On May 7th, the Frederick Police Department conducted Tobacco Compliance Checks of commercial establishments selling Tobacco products within the City of Frederick for the third time this year. The operation was funded by a grant through the Frederick County Health Department. Frederick Police officers, with the help of underage volunteers, were able to check 40 businesses for compliance with state laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors. The Frederick Police would like to thank the following business establishments for their compliance with state laws: Plus Mart on East Patrick Street, Sheetz on East Patrick Street, Browns Discount Liquors on East Patrick Street, Joey’s Express Convenience Store on East Patrick Street, Rosedale Ice on North East Street, Liberty Gas Station on North East Street, Eastside Liquors on North East Street, Frederick Discount Liquors on North Bentz Street, Giant Eagle on West 7th Street, GetGo in the 1700 block of West 7th Street, Safeway on West 7th Street, Exxon on Monocacy Boulevard, Riverside Liquors on Riverbend Way, WalMart on Monocacy Boulevard, Manny Mart on South Market Street, H&R Food Market on South Market Street, Fox’s Sport & Bait on South Market Street, Snack Shack on North Market Street, Festival Liquors on Prospect Boulevard, Weis Markets on Prospect Boulevard, A-1 Mart on Himes Avenue, Westridge Liquors on West Patrick Street, Rite Aid on Key Parkway, Sunoco on West Patrick Street, Giant Eagle on West Patrick Street, Frederick Shell on West Patrick Street, Waverly Beer & Wine on Waverly Drive, CVS Pharmacy in the 1400 block of West Patrick Street, 7-Eleven in the 1500 block of West Patrick Street, Weis Markets on Old Camp Road, BP on Yellow Springs Road, Rosemont Service Center on Rosemont Avenue, Express Gas on West Patrick Street, and Sheetz on Rosemont Avenue. The following establishments did not comply with the law and offenders were issued citations: Liberty Gas on East Patrick Street, 7-Eleven on North East Street, Giant Food on Kingfisher Drive, Classic Cigars and British Goodies on North Market Street, CVS Pharmacy on South Jefferson Street, GetGo on West Patrick Street, and 7-Eleven in the 1000 block of West Patrick Street.
