Officers of the Frederick Police Dept Patrol Division stop vehicle with tags to another, detect odor of marijuana in vehicle.
On 03-24-13, at approximately 1700 hours OFC K Jones stopped a passenger vehicle in the 400 Blk of N Market St because the registration plates were for a truck. Upon contacting the driver OFC Jones smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana in the vehicle and had the 2 occupants step out. A search of the vehicle based on the smell uncovered a small baggie of suspected marijuana in the passenger’s side of the car.
Subsequent investigation by OFC Jones revealed the driver, Cristian Serrano Corrales, does not have a drivers license in any state. It was also determined the registration plates on the vehicle belonged to another vehicle and the registration tabs were stolen from a different vehicle. The passenger, Galdamez Melendez, was issued a criminal citation at the scene and released. Serrano Corrales was transported to Central Booking for an appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
