On today's date, 03-13-13, at approximately 1523 hours, Frederick Police Department officers respond to a Bank Robbery at Sun Trust Bank located on Rosemont Ave. Responding vehicles locate and pursue the suspect vehicle. Suspect still at large.
On today's date, 03-13-13, at approximately 1523 hours, Frederick Police Department officers respond to a Bank Robbery at Sun Trust Bank located on Rosemont Ave. Upon arriving in the area, a Frederick Police officer observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle believed to be involved in the Robbery. The officer located the vehicle in the area of W. 7th St. and RT. 15. The Officer attempted to initiate a stop on the vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to stop and fled. The vehicle led Frederick Police officers on a pursuit onto Rt 15 southbound, at which time the pursuit was joined by officers with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and MD State Police. The MD State helicopter also joined and assisted. After the pursuit traveled onto County surface roads and back into the City, pursuing officers had to slow their pursuit due to congested roads and the danger posed to motorists and pedestrians. The suspect vehicle was lost, but with the assistance of the MD State helicopter, the vehicle was quickly located abandoned to the rear of a business in the 100 block of S. Market St.
The investigation is currently still on-going and the suspect of the Bank Robbery is still at large. The Frederick Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is currently working the investigation and following active leads. The suspect vehicle recovered was a white Honda Accord with Pennsylvania Tags. The suspect in the Robbery was described as a white male, medium height and weight, dark short hair. A second person of interest was a passenger in the vehicle described at this point only as a black male.
No injuries was reported as a result of the Robbery or the pursuit. No other information is being released at this point.
