Alderman Carol Krimm Appointed to Double Taxation Workgroup
Frederick, MD -- City of Frederick Alderman Carol Krimm has accepted the appointment to serve on the Maryland Municipal League’s 2013 Workgroup on Double Taxation.
This very important committee, chaired by Baltimore City Councilman Jim Kraft, is charged with reviewing the status of double taxation in Maryland and providing a report and recommendations that will be shared with the Maryland Municipal League’s membership.
“I continue to focus on the tax burden of property owners. I supported the county and municipal effort to establish tax differential to increase transparency. However, I believe the state's smart growth land use policy and property tax policy need to be aligned. The Double Taxation Workgroup begins meeting next week and we will deliver a report and recommendations to municipal leaders at the MML Convention in June,” said Alderman Krimm.
Alderman Krimm also serves as Vice Chair of the Maryland Municipal League Legislative Committee. This committee reviews state legislation and state budget matters affecting municipalities and makes recommendations to the state legislature.
Alderman Krimm, elected to The City of Frederick Board of Aldermen in 2009, serves on several additional committees and boards including the Transportation Planning Board of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, Transportation Planning Board Bus on Shoulders Task Force as Co-Chair, Frederick Arts Council, Commission on Aging, Transportation Services Advisory Council, Frederick Area Committee for Transportation, Golden Mile Alliance, Airport Commission, and the Taxicab Commission.
