Bagged Leaves Will Also Be Collected During Regularly Scheduled Yard Waste Collection

Frederick, MD – As a result of Hurricane Sandy, The City of Frederick Department of Public Works Annual Leaf Collection Campaign will now begin on Monday, November 5, 2012 and continue through Friday December 21, 2012. This change in schedule is necessary due to the massive clean-up efforts required by our Public Works crews as a result of the down trees and resulting debris associated with Hurricane Sandy.
Leaves will be collected in all areas at least 3 times throughout this period. Residents also have the option of bagging leaves to be collected on their regularly scheduled Yard Waste Collection days. Yard Waste Collection will continue as scheduled during the Leaf Collection Campaign.
All City residents may begin to set out leaves for collection on Sunday, November 4, 2012. The last date for residents to set leaves out for collection is Sunday December 20, 2012. Residents are asked not to rake large leaf piles into the streets PRIOR to November 4th to avoid overloading the street sweepers. If you must place leaves in the gutter prior to the scheduled collection dates, please spread them in a lower pile along the gutter to make it easier for the street sweeper to clean the street. In addition, spraying the piles down with water will help keep them from blowing away during periods of high wind.
Please use off-street parking during this time if available. n. For additional information, please contact the Department of Public Works at 301.600.1440.
