Fencing Basics 101

This class will cover the history of the sword, as it relates to fencing, dueling, and the beginnings of the sport. Students will also get a basic understanding of foil, and a basic understanding of the rules. From the ? rst lesson and onward through the class, beginners will also acquire a basic understanding of proper footwork, blade work, form, and function. Students will also have the opport- unity to fence using the same style of electronic equipment used in the modern Olympic games. Fencing gear is provided for this class.
