Weatherization

City of Frederick Weatherization Program

The City’s weatherization (energy efficiency) program aims to help low-to-moderate income citizens of Frederick, Carroll, and Washington Counties by providing free weatherization services. We use Federal, State, and City funding to help income eligible homeowners save money on their energy bills. See below to learn more about our programs and apply for funding. Grants awarded to homeowners do not need to be repaid.

According to a nationwide assessment of the program, households that receive weatherization upgrades and improvements save an average of $372 or more each year. What is Weatherization?

Weatherization is the process of making homes more energy-efficient, helping homeowners save money on their energy bills. This is achieved through a range of techniques, such as adding insulation, sealing air leaks, repairing heating and cooling systems, and replacing lights and outdated appliances. By reducing the amount of energy needed to heat and cool homes, weatherization can lead to significant savings on monthly energy bills.

These savings can add up over time, potentially saving homeowners hundreds to thousands of dollars. Weatherization can also lead to lower energy prices and a more stable energy market for homeowners. This program is an important tool for promoting energy efficiency and sustainability, and can benefit homeowners, communities, and the environment.
